[Review] FOUR YEARS LEFT TO LIVE - Nuclear Kampf [US Bestial BM]

If you are on the lookout for a ten minute blast of raw black metal chaos then look no further than USBM war mongers Four Years Left To Live. Part bestial black metal band, part doomsday warning, 'Nuclear Kampf' is a disheartening peek into the apocalyptic waste lands of our collective future.

Yet far from wallowing in our impending doom, FYLTL positively bask in the radioactive glow of our own folly. Opener 'The War Has Begun' is a noise fuelled aural bombardment, a reverb drench onslaught of riffs, savage growls and banshee like wails. With a more measured approach, 'Kill Them All' has a colder, more deliberate feel with more punk style drumming, catchy, muffled! A more moderate pace and some well positional air raid sirens contrasts well with the opening track.

Taking up the majority of the run time, 'Nuclear Kampf' is faster, utilising more traditional black metal riffs and again an old school muffled sound to the drums which lends itself superbly to the demo's overall aura. 'Four Horsemen' is a short blast of savagery to round off this anarchic release. This is well worth checking out for fans of dirty little black metal demo's with a punishing basement dwelling sound. [6.5 out of 10]
