A quick little review for a single release I picked up on Bandcamp recently. ‘Winter’s Fall’ is the debut track from Seattle based black metal band Fallen Through. Mixing a little dungeon synth into its interludes and intro, the bulk of this five minutes is made up by mid paced riffs, snarled vocal work with just a little fuzz on them and a metronome like steady drum and bass line, and al with a production level that adds just a little bit of murk to the proceedings without obscuring what’s on offer. On top of all that there is a sublime melody running throughout, a little hypnotic and very appealing. It’s difficult to get a true grasp on a band from a five minute song but ‘Winter’s Fall’ has left me hungry for more from Fallen Through! [7.5 out of 8]
